This past Saturday, Harry and I went to a birthday party for our neighbor who is turning 5 years old. The party was at his grandparents house. As we were getting ready to leave the party, his sweet grandmother went over to her garden and cut some beautiful, colorful, zinnia flowers along with some hydrangea flowers for me to take home and put in some vases.
On the way home, I couldn’t help but notice the zinnia flowers were dying. It was HOT on Saturday and they couldn’t take the heat without any water.
I didn’t take a before picture but this is what they looked like
Immediately when I got home, I put them in a vase with some water hoping they would come back to life. After about an hour, I glanced up at the vase and I could not believe how much these flowers had opened up and started to bloom!! All they needed was some water to grow and bring them back to life.
This is the after picture!
This made me think about my relationship with Jesus. The flowers needed water in order to grow and come to life just like I need Jesus in order to grow and feel alive. What are you doing in your relationship with the Lord to make it grow?
It seems so simple but I feel like we can often miss this concept. We feel close in our relationships with other people when we spend time with them right? It is the same way with Jesus. We feel closer to Him by spending time with Him.
I say this all the time but I truly feel so much better when I give God the first 5- 10 minutes of everyday. It makes the biggest difference in my outlook upon the day because I feel God walking beside of me. The more time we spend with Him, the more time we will want to spend with Him.
Let’s be motivated today to spend more time with God. He will give us a peace that nothing else in the world has to offer.
Maybe your relationship with God is great! Maybe there is another relationship going on in your life that needs some care in order to grow. Think about how it can be fixed. Pick up the phone and call? Send a text message? Go visit someone?
Fix your relationships today!
