Give us Today our Daily Bread

Have you ever woken up and thought, “wow my to- do list is a mile long today.”

We have all been there before, we wake up feeling like we have more things on our list to accomplish than time.

Sometimes, we can get so caught up in all of the things we need to get done that we forget the most important thing that should be on our list… spend with time with God.

We even start to hear this voice in our head saying, “God will forgive me today if I don’t spend time in the word or in prayer because I have a big to- do list today.”

In reality.. it is the exact opposite!

Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Give us today our daily bread.” He didn’t say weekly or monthly, he said daily. God wants us to be dependent on Him each and every day.

I always think about it like this: we depend on food and water to survive each day but it is also important that we are being fed spiritually each day.

I can tell the biggest difference in my attitude each day when I am spending time in His word. My whole day goes so much smoother when I give Him the first few minutes of my day.
