A word for 2024…. Present!

Hello again!

I hope you all are having a great start to the new year! Did y’all do anything fun on NYE?

We were at home poppin bottles! Haha 🍼

And there was a little firework show in our neighborhood! 💥

Harry and I did toast with champagne while the boys were sleeping! Fun fact: my best friends made these sparkle champagne glasses for my 25th birthday and I still bring them out 7 years later for fun occasions! 🥂

Pssst… I actually did a blog post to recap my 25th birthday weekend with these champagne glasses! If anyone wants to turn back time to 7 years ago, tap here:

Surprise!

It’s January 2nd and this is already my second blog post for this week!

Yesterday’s post was all about Capers turning one month old! Catch the recap, here:

Capers: One month update!

Today’s post is essentially my “Motivation Monday” post for January but we won’t call it that since it’s technically Tuesday, lol. I wanted to blog some “motivation” though during the first week of the new year!

Are you the type of person that chooses a word for the year as a New Year’s resolution? I’ve never been that type of person.

Well… around Christmas, I was up with Capers one night and I was reflecting on the year, the Christmas season, the gift that God gave us in Capers, and I thought about the new year.

Capers really was our “present” this Christmas. As I was reflecting and thinking about that, it was like the Lord just spoke to me with that word “present.”

It’s like the Lord was telling me to ponder it for a bit. I started thinking about “being present” and “enjoying the present.”

Having babies, makes me treasure “being present” and “enjoying the present” even more. I’ve never wanted time to go slower than once I started having babies. I want to savor it all + soak it all in!

In that moment, holding Capers that night, the Lord really spoke to me and told me to cling to the word “present” in the new year.

So this year I have a word…

Present

I want to keep striving to “be present.

Be present with my kids, play with them, laugh with them, not let them see me on my phone so much, and be present in all of the little moments.

I also want to make sure I’m striving to be present with whatever is in front of me so I don’t miss a “God opportunity” placed before me. That can be dinner with a friend and really being engaged in a conversation, being present when my students share something special with me, being present with a cashier at the pharmacy, etc. All of these little moments throughout the day matter. I don’t want to miss an opportunity to be a light just by being present.

It also reminds me of the saying.. be where your feet are!

I don’t want to miss any of this sweetness!

I also want to “enjoy the present.”

I’ve always loved this quote…

Living each day to the fullest and treating each day like a gift has always been important to me.

I want to make sure I’m never forgetting to do that, especially with my kids. Enjoy all the little boring moments. Because they matter. And that’s where memories are made. And really, those are the most important moments.

Enjoying the ordinary days are special! At the end of each year, when I’m looking through photos, those “ordinary” moments on my camera roll make me smile the most.

Like this one… Brewer picked out his clothes and got SO excited because his sweater had a truck on it. That’s an ordinary moment on an ordinary day that I treasured with Brewer! That morning getting ready was special to me.

Who’s with me in 2024?

Does anyone else feel more motivated to “be present” and “enjoy the present” this year?

I may just write that word on a notecard and stick it somewhere I look often! You should too!

Present

I love you all! Thank you so much for coming to my blog each week! I’m excited to be with you all in 2024!

**I will be back here next Tuesday!**
