Hey, hey! Happy Wednesday!
We have officially wrapped up the school year and we’re officially on summer break!

As always, I love blogging a little school year recap!
This year in particular was special because it marks 10 years in education for me. I have officially taught for an entire decade now!

From the traditional classroom to the virtual classroom, it’s been a fun journey that I’m so grateful to be on!
Each day, I’m grateful for the opportunity to help create a joyful foundation for learning during the early childhood years. I’m also grateful for teachers & leaders who have shaped me into the teacher I am today.
Special stamps are left on my heart each year by students and colleagues who have become more like family!

Now let’s talk about the kiddos!
Brewer finished 3K
This was taken on the last day of school, last Thursday!

A close- up of his board!
“Hunting for bears” was a favorite this year when Brewer’s class learned about hibernation.

A flashback to the first day of 3K! 🥹

We could not have asked for a better year in Mrs. Piedmont’s class!

Brewer loves his teachers & school so much!

Capers has also loved his sweet nursery class with the sweetest ladies who we have loved & adored since Brewer was a baby!

End of year school things: I love this tradition! Capers started a book this year! I start at the beginning and write each class level in order/ per page, and the teachers write a little note. I’ll give the books to the boys when they graduate someday!
This year, Mrs. Piedmont included in her note, “Brewer, you were the best bear hunter!“ lol, truly such a fun memory for Brewer!
A little portfolio from Brewer’s year in 3K. I love looking back at all the artwork he made!

This page made me smile because last summer, watching for sunsets became mine & Brewer’s thing! Every evening, we would look for sunsets and if there was a pretty one, we would pop popcorn and sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch together & watch. I’m so glad that was a sweet memory for Brewer too! 🥹

We always celebrate the school year with some sort of special dinner! On the last day of school this year; Harry fired up the grill!

Blueberry cobbler… yum!
Nothing says summer like a cobbler, right?!

Let’s talk summer things!
This is the boys’ “summer schedule.” I use the term “schedule” loosely. I like the down time in the summer and not needing to be on a strict schedule. However, I still like routine to keep us on track with all the fun things: an activity, going for walks, etc.
We will have two weeks of swim lessons and that will change our morning structure a little bit on those days. Plus vacation! But all in all, this worked well for us last year so we’re duplicating this summer 🙂

My summer web!!
I make one of these every year and write in all the fun things we want to do. It can be big or it can be so simple. I write it all down from visiting a water park to flying a kite at home. It all goes on the web and it helps me choose an activity each day and track what we’ve done!

I’ll end this post with a Memorial Day recap since this was our first weekend of summer!
We had a low key Memorial Day that consisted of trips to Strawberry Hill. (yes.. plural lol. Harry got addicted to their icecream and we went two days in a row 🤪)

Sunday afternoon at the lake!
Lake Lure is coming along post Hurricane Helene. It still has a way to go but we celebrate progress & this view 🫶

Memorial Day morning, we made muffins with berries from Strawberry Hill.

And we had a lowkey backyard Memorial Day here at home!

That evening it was cool temps and rainy. We ended Memorial Day with a family movie night! This is a summer movie fav!

These little American boys have my whole 🫶

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day and are having a great start to summer too!
