This month’s tell all topic is all about… how I organize holiday/ seasonal decor.

I often get asked, where do you store things? My house isn’t large but we do have a lot of seasonal & holiday decor. It just fills my heart (& my home) with so much joy! Plus, my kids love it. Brewer is really into the decor these days!

Thankfully, my house does have a large attic! For the most part, that is where all the decor is stored. I have everything labeled and in boxes, so it makes it easy when it’s time to take holiday/ seasonal decor down from the attic.

While taking my fall decor out of the attic, I snapped some pictures to share how it’s all organized since I often get asked where all the decor stays.

Beware… like most attics, it’s nothing unique or fancy:

I call it organized chaos. HA!

Just at a glance, you see a whole lot of stuff. Let’s break down how I have some of it organized.

-On the left are seasonal pillow boxes. Over the years, I’ve gained some wisdom and now, instead of buying tons of pillows, I try to just buy pillow covers. That way, I’m only changing out the pillow cover to go with each season. But, nonetheless, I have collected lots of cute pillows over time. Outdoor pillows are not in bags. Indoor pillows are covered in bags.

Going back to the top photo, glancing in the attic…

-In front of the pillows, I have boxes with home decor that I’m not ready to part with but may be used one day, such as the baskets you see.

-The back left are a couple of boxes from childhood that my mom gave me. See that basket of cds?! What do y’all do with those? I should probably just get rid of them, right?

-Straight ahead, you see boxes for seasonal decor. Each box is labeled with the season.

I have about 3 boxes for fall, 1 for spring, and Christmas…

Going back to the top photo, glancing in the attic…

Behind the wooden beams, you will find the Christmas decor! The red and green boxes make me oh so happy! Christmas gets an entire section of the attic. Too many boxes to count!

Also behind the wooden beams & next to the Christmas decor, all of the baby clothes are stored away! I have them labeled box 1, 2, etc. As the box number gets higher, the clothes also gets bigger in size. Does that make sense?

It’s been easy to take Brewer’s baby clothes down for Capers, having it all organized.

One last thing..

Next to the boxes of baby clothes, is a box that we used for decor at Brewer’s Toy Story themed second birthday party. It now stays in the attic for toys that we store away. Example: things Brewer no longer uses but Capers isn’t quite ready for.

Also wanted to note that we added extra plywood to the attic to have more space!

And that completes the attic tour of where we store away holiday/ seasonal decor + other things!

A few other places I store seasonal things:

-We have a lot of seasonal books for the kids but not a ton of storage space for books inside. We keep books in a closed cabinet in the garage and swap them out, seasonally!

-We have a designated cabinet inside for all seasonal candles. We swap these out around the house too.

-We also have seasonal dishes like my Christmas china. That of course stays inside as well!
