Hello sweet friends!!
Happy Tuesday & welcome back to the blog!
I hope you loved yesterday’s holiday & Christmas filled post! Find it, here!
Today, I am talking about another fun topic!!
Last month’s “tell all” topic was a very special one. It was all about my hometown, Clover!
Find it, here!
This month’s “tell all” topic is all about Spartanburg, better know as Sparkle City, where we live now!

I moved to Spartanburg for college summer of 2009 and basically never left! Lol, so it’s been 14 years!

I went to Spartanburg Methodist College for two years! Harry started out at USC Columbia and later transferred to SMC but did not live on campus. So, our paths never crossed there. Ironically, Harry works at SMC now!

Then, we both transferred to USC Upstate and Harry & I met off campus at the apartment complex we both lived at, just right around the corner!
Spartanburg has lots of college schools! Aside from SMC and USC Upstate, there’s Wofford, Converse, VCom, and Spartanburg Community.

Harry grew up in Spartanburg, so he has really seen it grow and change over time! Over the last 14 years, I’ve also seen it grow and change a lot. It still has a home town vibe though that we love!
A quick google search tells me the population is over 38,000 people!
~
I’m going to share some of our favorite things about Spartanburg, including, places to eat, things to do, and traditions that we love here!
Starting with…
Places to eat

Cribbs Kitchen
This is our all time favorite go-to spot! It’s in downtown, right next to the newest hotel in town. It’s SO yum! They have everything from sandwiches to steak and it’s all amazing! We have been here for SO many family/ friend occasions.. lots of memories here!

Mezcal
Mezcal is also located in downtown! It’s another one of our favorites for good Mexican food. They also have lots of outdoor seating which we love! If there’s an event going on in town with live music, it’s nice to be outside at Mezcal!

Groucho’s
I love that Spartanburg has a Groucho’s! It’s an easy go-to lunch spot right in downtown! Perfect meet- up with friends and babies too!

Taco Dog
This is another favorite Mexican food spot! Haha, they also have fries for the kiddos lol. This is located on the *east* side of town. It’s yummy!
You’ll hear people in Spartanburg a lot refer to “the east side of town” and “the west side.”

Miyakos
Another favorite is Miyakos sushi! We love Miyakos! It’s also located in downtown. We love to be on the downtown square!

Now let’s talk…
Things to do

Events on the town square
So I keep referring to “the town square” because that’s where all the fun and action is! (We also got engaged on this little town square!) Daniel Morgan Square in Spartanburg continues to offer more & more over the years! I love our little downtown area in Spartanburg. They also have lots of events throughout the year that we like attending such as, spring fling!

The Childrens Museum
This is a go- to spot on the town square for young kids! Brewer loves it here! We visit here frequently and also had his 2nd birthday party here!

All of the local parks!
There are SO many good parks around Spartanburg! A few of our favorites:
-Happy hollow park for kids
-Miliken for the whole family
-Glendale Shoals
-Holston Creek

Breweries
There’s a fun indoor/ outdoor brewery called RJ rockers and there’s an outdoor one called Fr8 Yard! We have fun memories at both places and both are great, located on the square!

Storytelling at the Library
This is another fun thing for kiddos! The local library here does fun storytellings all year. We love going, especially in the summertime!

Strawberry Hill
This is a fun outdoor place for the whole family! In the spring, they do strawberry pickin, in the fall, they have a pumpkin patch and lots of fall fun! We visit here several times throughout the year!
Other things to do in Spartanburg
-shop at local boutiques
-splash pads for kids
-we have a nice NCG movie theatre and a Regal theatre
-lots of fun local pumpkin patches in the fall
Now let’s talk…
Fun things to do around Sparkle City during the holiday season

-Dickens of a Christmas– we look forward to this event every year! Spartanburg literally turns into a little Christmas storybook with carolers and all sorts of Christmas wonderland things!

-The Nutcracker– I love that our local ballet puts on this performance each year! It has turned into a fun annual “girls night out” for me!

-Local parades! I know every town does this but we sure do love the parade here in Spartanburg!
Other things we love about Spartanburg
-It’s the perfect size! Not too big & not too small! It’s big enough to have lots of things to do but small enough to where it has that hometown feel!
-We’re so close to the mountains and the beach here! We can be in the mountains in under an hour which we visit frequently, especially this time of year! You can also be at the beach in just a few hours.
-Spartanburg is getting a minor league baseball team SO soon! We are extra excited about this!
~

That sums up a lot of reasons why we love Sparkle City and there are plenty more reasons too!
If you’ve never been, you should visit! 🙂
*I will be back on my blog next Thursday!*
Have the best rest of your November week!
