First Trimester Recap!

Wow! First trimester is coming to an end already!

That’s hard to believe and also very exciting!

I will be 14 weeks tomorrow (Friday) and heading into second trimester!

This journey of being pregnant with baby #2 has already been so special to me and such a huge blessing!

Today, I am going to recap a bit of my first trimester:

I answered lots of questions in my first, “baby blog post” here: Baby #2 is Due!!

Overall, first trimester hasn’t been bad! I felt great up until week 9. I actually thought I was in the clear for all the “first trimester symptoms” there for a while, ha! Silly me.

Week 9, my nausea started. I haven’t been sick but just super nauseas. I was the same way when pregnant with Brewer! With him, I didn’t take anything, I just suffered through it but this time, I needed something so that I could still comfortably chase my toddler around all day. Lol

Being pregnant with baby #2 is different in the sense that, I can’t just relax anytime I want to. Lol, I am still up and moving everyday with Brewer. I also have to give Harry lots of credit. If he’s not working, he will gladly take over when he knows I need a minute because I’m not feeling well!

Two days that nausea really got the best of me this trimester..

1. There was a Friday night that we went out for Mexican food and from the moment we walked in the restaurant, I didn’t feel well. The smell of the restaurant hit me and I was over it. Lol the boys still ate but I did not. Smells can also be so triggering in pregnancy. It’s funny!

2. There was a Sunday morning that I got completely ready for church- dress on and all. As it was time to walk out the door, nausea took over big time. So we opted for watching online. Getting sick at church did not sound fun. It’s wild how it can hit you out of no where.

I’ve for sure been tired at times too for no reason, other than I’m growing a baby. But I’m hoping the fatigue & nausea symptoms are almost behind me as we walk into the second trimester!

This past week was an odd week of pregnancy. To recap…. I started having migraines earlier in the week. One day, they got really, really intense. My doctor told me it’s normal in pregnancy to get migraines. I had headaches with Brewer but never ever like that. My doctor told me what to take and I started feeling much better. By the end of the week, I had a fever of 103 and chills. I was so cold yet so hot! I spoke with my doctors office again and they told me it does not sound pregnancy related at all, I probably have a virus. I went to urgent care on Friday, tested negative for Covid and flu. So I guess I just had another strand of virus. The migraines could have been pregnancy related or the onset of getting sick.. a weekend of rest and I’m feeling much better! Only minor headaches here and there, that Tylenol can cure!

With Brewer, some of you may remember my back pain that I talked A LOT about during pregnancy. I have minimal scoliosis in my back but I think being pregnant the first time was enough to trigger it. I started having back pain from the moment I found out I was pregnant with him and I started seeing a chiropractor. So far, this time around, my back has been just fine!! Praise Jesus! That has been a blessing! Things could totally change but so far, I feel great in that regard!

All of these funny pregnancy symptoms are worth it though..

I am just so grateful to be carrying another life! Babies truly are miracles from above. It is an honor to carry another sweet baby to bring into the world to raise. Thank you Jesus for this blessing!

I can’t wait to have two little munchkins in the wagon!

I still get asked often, “Does Brewer understand what’s happening?” He will point to my belly and say baby. We can ask him about wanting a brother or sister and he will respond. But I’m still not sure he understands there will be another baby in our house soon! Brewer loves other babies, toddlers, and kids so much! I know he is going to love having a sibling! That is the best gift we could ever give him!

The first time we saw baby, he or she was SO tiny!!! We can’t wait to see baby again this week!

It’s actually an exciting week because…

We find out baby’s gender TODAY.. (Thursday!)

We are so excited!! Harry & I actually had a day date to the lake on Monday, just the two of us to kick off the week!!

It was a fun day dreaming about what baby #2 will be. This whole trimester, it’s been fun not knowing. We can kind of play it out both ways and both are equally exciting- a boy or a girl! We are excited to know so we can begin planning all the things like a name & a nursery!

We had such a fun lake day! I can’t wait to see this guy be a dad X 2.

We ended the day with Brewer at the park! It was the perfect day to start an exciting week!

Let me leave you with some old wives tales… just for fun!!

What do you think baby #2 will be?! Let me know in the comment section below!!

We can’t wait to add he or she to our family!

*I will be back on the blog Tuesday to share all of the fun from today/ weekend!*

I’m so glad this trimester hasn’t been that bad! You’re a great boy mom, but based on the heart rate I’m thinking girl, which you would be good at too! But it would be great for Brewer to have another boy to play with since he has all girl cousins! Cant wait to see!
